My girl ex-school mate's mummy had approached me to work on this Dora theme cake. I was so glad to be given this wonderful opportunitiy to work on this Dora and friends in the jungle theme cake. Mummy had came with a long list of the things which she wanted. I'm always happy when customer gives me specific instructions on what to do. Hahaha... Then i don't have to think so much..

Hmm... watch out, the crocodile is watching and the snake is also near by...
At least the cow is harmless and resting nearby on the grassland...

Sweet Little Girl Cake

A birthday cake for a 4years old girl. It was ordered by my nephew's teacher for her beloved god-sister.
Hmm.. His teacher really loved this little girl!! She had came to me with a 2 full pages of proposal for the cake. Hahaha... I do not have to use my brain to think again....The main item are the little girl lying on the grass drawing and her younger brother playing cars next to her.. Really reminds me of my own children. :)
Then we have a little pink bear, holding a yellow balloons sitting next to the little girl. She also requested a little bunny hopping around, with flowers, bees and butterflies....Such a nice settingNot to miss out the rainbow as well. Also, a basket full of strawberries. A Valentine's cake requested by my colleague for his beloved wife. He wanted a Rilakkuma and friends' cake. I have never heard of these japanese characters and luckily he showed me a picture of them. So cute... I was thinking of how to do and and after some thoughts, decided to just repilcate what he had shown me in the picture and here's the 3 cute little cartoons. Hmm... Chosen a white color base instead of a bright red one simply because white represent purity. Another beautiful colour for Valentine's Day.
:)He also requested a peach colored carnation. Maybe his wife likes carnation... Have a wonderful day, my dear colleague...

Chinese Zodiac - Animals Cake

A new theme again!! My ex-colleague wanted a chinese zodiac sign - Animals cake, for her baby 1st birthday.
wow... a long time ex-colleague whom i had not met for almost a good 10 years already. So happy to see her today, coming to collect the cake.
:)Hmmm... Her request:
1) A pig, cow, monkey, sheep and snake cos' these are the chinese zodiac signs of her beloved family members.
2) Balloons behind the cow (her son is born in the year of oxen). My mistake, i "mis-calculated" the length and ended up it's so short.
3) A barnyard farm house.
4) Her darling son's name on the cake
5) Some super mario white-spots mushrooms.
Hmmm... Hope i've gotten everything correct here. :)
Hehehe... She had shown me pictures of the stuff she wanted and i tried to make it as close as possible...Ohh... A naughty pig trying to climb up to sniff a mushroom.

My colleague requested for a bee cake for a fellow colleague. This request was due to our birthday boy always wearing stripes clothing to work. Hahaha... So, i told her that i would make a heehives with many bees attracted to it.She also requested a bigger bee be be smoking to be placed on the cake. Here's the bigger bee (which represented the birthday boy) and i also made a pair of glasses for him. Hehehe...
Hmmm... All the little bees around the hives. These little bees represent all the fellow colleagues from the CAD team. All of you are just as hardworking and busy as the bees.. Salute to all of you!!!Here's a cascading effect of daisy flowers down the hives. Hahaha... In fact, they are there to hide some of my flaws in covering the cake. Can you spot it?

A mummy came to me with some photos and wanted a 2 tiers cake for her baby 1st birthday. Ponyo... Hmmm... never heard of before and mummy explained to me that it's actually a fish wanting to become human and turned into a little girl....It's really heart warming to see both daddy and mummy came to collect the cake. Loving parents...
Mummy also requested a plush piggy which her daughter loved a lot...
Also, a simple request for the cake to be bright and cheery!!Hmmm... i thought that since i'll do a 2 tiers, the top one will be a sea world, as Ponyo lives in the sea. All round the top tier are sea creatures... There's octopus, turtle, stingray, starfishes and crab. :)See how cute this little plush piggy is? Hehehe....Hmmm... mummy initially also requested cuppies, but since i'm baking 2 cakes here, i can't find time to bake cuppies and she said her cuppies theme is garden. So, i did the bottome tier with garden feel, with a bold use of bright color to fuifil her request. A very happy birthday to you, Baby Jayann...

Castle Cake for Baby Shelbi

A colleague of mine ordered this cake for her little darling 1st birthday. I was already making preparation for this cake when the Ben10 cake order "cut in the queue". Hahaha... Having a heart-attack week doing these 2 cakes. First time doing a castle cake and was cueless how to get the 4 towers done up. It's really stressful doing these towers. Firstly, it's time pressing. Secondly, during transporting the half done towers, they collasped and damaged the little doll as well. Third, they went out of shape due to the constant transporting around. And lastly, i had such a hard time sticking the towers onto the cake board. But luckily, i've made it in time for the cake to be picked up for the celebration. Yippie!!See the pose the little baby is having? Hahaha... Mummy said it's her baby unique "sexy pose" and requested it here. So cute of this little baby. I loved her cheeks... So chubby, same as my darling son. And of cos', she got a big birthday kiss from my cheeky son on that day too... :)

Ben10 cake for YiJie

My ex-boss ordered a Ben10 cake for his staff's son. This ex-boss is a real wonderful guy. I hate it that i don't have the chance to work with him for a longer period of time. Nevertheless, here's the result of the Ben10 cake for a wonderful ex-colleague of mine.A crush week for me to do 2 cakes one day apart from each other. I was thinking of not to accept this order due to time constraint, but how can i ever turn down the request of my ex-boss who had taken such good care of me before? Worked late into the night for a few nights in molding the figurines.I've noted my skills in molding did improve. It's really a challenge for me, with so much to do and so little time given. My ex-colleague sms-ed me and told me how delighted her son was with the cake and how his classmates envied him during the celebration. Only regret is that they can't keep the figurines. I was so happy to received such nice feedback. Thanks, Kat for giving me the chance to work on this cake and a bigger thanks to my ex-boss for this order. I will always remembered all the goodwills showered on me during the time i had reported under you!! :)

Pirate Ship

My daughter's ex-schoolmate mummy requested for a pirate ship for her darling son to celebrate his 5th birthday. Her son is currently so intrigued with pirates and had wanted a huge pirate ship cake for his birthday.Mummy ordered a large cake so he can share with more than 50 of his schoolmates in the childcare centre. I was really so busy baking and craving out the shape of the ship over the weekend. Thanks to my hubby for helping to take care of the kids, else, judging from the time i took to bake the 2 big cakes (joined together here), i would have to sleep at 3-4am in the morning already.
:)Made a total of 3 pirates here. Love how they turned out. Thanks for Fei's mummy for giving me the chance to practice more on my workmanship to mold human!!Specially did the waves here with buttercream. I normally don't do piping work for sugarpaste order, but can't help it cos' what is a ship in the sea without "waves". Hahaha..

I had been wanting to do a basket full of flowers and this is the best chance for me to work on this theme..Ohh... beautiful flowers.. i did some roses, sunflowers, carnations and daisy. Wedding Cup cake - Just Hitched

My colleague ordered some 12 cupcakes for her dear cousin's wedding morning tea reception. Her request are simply a set of bride and groom, with a "Just Hitched" written on the cuppies.So, here's the "Just Hitched" on the cupcake written with edible ink... :)Loved this "xi" word. I found it while shopping in PH and bought it immediately. Hahaha... So, now it comes in handy!!Hmmm... Since my colleague didn't specify any theme for her cuppies order, i took the liberty and complement her request with flowers theme. Roses are an all time favorite, so, i added some of it in my design.. Noted some piping work here? I rarely do piping, but made it special here and piped the stems with buttercream...These are the main character, the bride and groom figurines!! Hehehe... love them, so sweet.. :)

Finally, got the chance to work on a 2-tier cake. Hahaha... Ryan's mummy came to me with a simple request. She wanted a boy, cow and football. She needed the cake to serve approximately 50 guests and i suggested to do a double tier cake. So now, this is the outcome...Like this little prince here... It reminds me of my own son when i did his 1st birthday cake. I also wanted to do a prince theme for my son, but didn't make it due to me still not good at molding human figurines and not sufficient time to do it. A cute baby with a little teddy bear in a bassinet. This is a very special 1st month cake to me... simply because the baby has the same name as me. Went surfing around and found a beautiful design and requested the mummy to allow me to do it and so this is the outcome!! :)Shheee... don't make noise. Ben10 cake.
This is an order from a wonderful ex-colleague. I still remembered we got preggy at around the same time and our kids are both 3 years old this year. So nice...See Ben10 here? The handsome guy in the story... I've added some shooting stars and "stones" around, to give it a more galaxy feel...A green monster here. I didn't know the names of these 3 creatures till my ex-colleague checked with her son and told me. He is Swampfire. Transformed from the good Ben10.This is also another creature who was transformed from Ben10.The last creature here is Heat Blast, also another transformation from Ben10. Both of us simply don't understand why Ben10 has to transformed to become these creatures. hahaha... Maybe the kids know better than us... :)

Peony... This is such a beautiful flower. We learnt the techniques to make this flower in a 2-half-day course. Really loves how it turned out.The full bloom and open full bloom, with the stamen shown.
Such a nice view of the flower. No wonder it is named as a "prosperous" flower...

My girl's classmate mummy approached me to help baked some cuppies for her son to celebrate his birthday in school. She told me her son was born on the same day as me and so, i readily accepted this order. Customer came with a very simple request. She wanted a "GREEN COLOR" theme. No specified design. All up to me to decide on anything, as long as it's green. I was scratching my head for a while thinking of what is green and will be of interest to this little boy...

An ipod phone cake!! Yes, this is a real exciting project done. I was thinking of it for a long, long time on how to get it done. Researched around, but customer came back to me with a design in mind and wanted me to make it, though not required to do a 100% alike cake.

See the 14 applications buttons? It took me the most effort in getting them done. No cutter to cut out the designs, all done by my own discretion. Glad how it turns out. I was almost contemplating to do icing imaging instead. Hahaha...

My sister's colleague ordered a cute cake to celebrate her daughter's birthday. Theme selected: Strawberry Shortcake. She also requested for the strawberry shortcake's dog to be placed on the cake. I did a bit of researched and finally found out that she had a little dog who is white and black in color.

Like how the strawberry house turned out to be. I have bought some fresh strawberries to be placed on the cake too. The house wrapped a huge strawberry in it too. :)

My kids childcare centre is having a Mother's Day celebration and i had volunteered to bake and decorate some cupcakes for the centre. The selected theme: "Flowers and Fruits". Flowers are for the mummies and fruits are for the children.

Cherries.. I love them, so added quite a number of them, but my girl prefers strawberries more. Don’t worry, mummy had both of these fruits on the cupcake, dear. :)

My darling daughter's teacher ordered a chocolate fudge cake to celebrate her birthday with her friends, whom birthday also fall in the same month. She had requested to use less sugarpaste for the cake, so i omitted the coating of the cake with sugarpaste and just covered it with chocolate ganache. The decorating was done with hand-made roses.

I had purposely uses bright colors for the roses and butterflies to complement the dull color of the chocolate fudge cake.

Loved wedding cakes a lot and decided to try my hands on a cake which I saw in the cake decorating book. Purposely took a day leave to stay home and work on this piece of art. The wedding couple seems to have shrunk in height after I left it in normal room condition when I rushed out to fetch my kids from the child care center. I only remembered to place them back in the air-con room after I’m back. So, here’s the result.

My 1st attempt to do a sugarpaste cake for my niece one year old birthday. My little niece likes bears a lot and my sister requested a bear theme for her baby. So, I’ve selected 2 bears to make for her; a brown bear and a panda bear.

PME Diploma - Royal Icing Course

My final module in the PME cake decoration. It is the most difficult one among the 3 modules. I took a straight 5 days leave to pick up this course at one shot. It’s tough and we are practically using a lot of the arm muscle to pipe and pipe whole day through, for a good 5 days. We did a total of 3 cakes in this course and the suspended cross stitch is the toughest for me. Have a look…

The 1st cake is relatively the easiest here. We learnt brush painting using royal icing for this cake. See the brush strokes on the flower?

The side view showed a very old English style of cake decoration, with trellis and lemberth.

This is the 2nd cake I’m learnt. The cross-stitch is tough and we had to strained our eyes to ensure all the lines are piped properly

Yes, the suspended cross-stitch. I had it collapsed on me twice. It’s so difficult to make it suspended in mid-air.

Finally, the side patterns here. These are the killers. We used the smallest piping tip, 0. **Fainted** I piped and piped and it kept breaking. But finally, still pulled through and here’s the wonderful completed work.

Lastly, the final cake with all those suspended (again!!) “octopus-looking legs”. This is another killer work. When I’m finally done with this, the satisfaction was un-describable”

PME Diploma - SugarPaste Course

After the excitement of taking the Wilton 1 course, I went ahead to pick up the professional PME Diploma – Sugarpaste course in cake decoration. I wanted so much to be able to do as well as other online bakers and to be able to mold out beautiful “art works” for my own children.

It was really fun working with sugarpaste. Altogether, we learnt to do 5 different cakes design.

This is the 1st cake that I made. I didn’t know that sugarpaste will not survive in our normal humid environment. I left it on the desk for a day and had a rude shock upon seeing it. Most of the item on the cake had “melted”…

My 2nd cake done. It’s a one year old celebration cake. This time round, I had it placed into the fridge and guess what… It was wet when removed from the fridge. Upon asking my teacher, then I realized that the fridge is an enemy of sugar paste as well! Urrgghh..

Nevermind the wetness, my girl was excited when she saw the cake and wanted to eat it immediately. She took off the brown bear and started biting into it. Hmmm.. Too sweet, darling..

The 3rd cake I had made. It’s one of my favorite cake among all those that I had done in the whole course. This is a 2 tier wedding cake. I have chosen a sweet pink theme for this cake. See the beautiful butterflies perching on the roses and ribbons? :)

The rocking horse cake. It’s tough getting the horse to stand up straight. We used gum-paste instead. Did 2 horses (as an insurance), but one of them broke. See the laces on the side of the cake. It took me the longest time to make and I also had a hard time trying to pipe along those “hole” patterns on the lacing.

This is my finale cake. It’s another wedding cake with a set of hand-molded bride and groom. Initially, all my classmate wanted a “D” cup for the bride, but ended up all of us only managed an “A” cup. Hahaha.. Nevertheless, nice!! I like the back view of the bride and groom, not because the front view is not as prefect, but it’s really romantic to see couples sitting idyllically together..

My Graduation Cake - Wilton Course 1

After a good 4 weeks of lessons, i've finally graduated from the Wilton Cake decorating Course 1. I had specially requested to add in the clowns cos' i know my daughter will be delighted to see them. And guess what's her reaction? Need i say more? :)

My 1st cake decorating lesson

I’ve never thought of attending any cake decoration class if not for the fact that I chanced upon the beautiful works of others decorated cakes, with those cute figurines using fondant/sugar-paste, when sourcing for a cake for my darling daughter. It was not a cheap one though, but my hubby gladly pays for the cake. During that time, I was in preparation for the birth of my 2nd baby and not in the most appropriate moment to pick up a new skill. It was only when my hubby brought home the cake I had order from another lady on-line, I was simply hooked and determine to learn how to decorate a cake!!

It was only after my maternity, and then I got my hands on to learn cake decoration. I started out with the most basis, ie. The Wilton Method of Cake Decorating – Course 1. However, prior to this, I do not have any previous experience and the 1st cake I decorated was a disaster. I didn’t even know that what I had prepared for the 1st cake decorating class was actually only “crumb-coating” of the cake. Hahaha.. and it looks funny. The stars on the cake was a more beautiful sight though.. Hurray, a beautiful starts to the path of cake decorating…
